Cambodia Gambling Halls
There is a fascinating story to the Cambodia gambling dens that reside just across the dividing line from nearby Thailand, where gambling den betting is not allowed. Eight casinos are situated in a relatively small space in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling dens is in a perfect spot, a three to four hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 largest wagering locations in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a huge business with Thai workers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The astonishing income accrued from the casinos ranges from seven and a half million dollars to over 12.5 million dollars, and there are a few controls requirements for casino ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mainly Thai; however, financial sources are ambiguous. The borders are officially open from 0900 to 5:00 p.m., and although visas are allegedly necessary to cross, there are ways around this, as is true of many borders.
The 1st Cambodia gambling dens premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in 1998, leaving only a single gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary bateau gambling den, contains 150 one armed bandits and sixty table games. The Naga gambling den is open all hours with 42 tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, four tables of blackjack, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The 1st gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown before long followed. There are 150 slots and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machine games and 68 gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights 300 slot machines and 70 table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and ninety six table games, including eighty seven baccarat banque (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machine games and sixty six of the normal tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the eight gambling dens in Poipet, again in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machine games and 97 games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an all-around resort and hotel complex that highlights many luxuries accompanying the gambling hall, which has ten thousand square feet of 130 slots and eighty eight tables.
