Cambodia Casinos

There is a captivating history to the Cambodia gambling halls that lie just across the border from neighboring Thailand, in which casino betting is illegal. Eight gambling dens are situated in a relatively tiny space in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia casinos is in an excellent destination, a three to four hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 biggest gaming locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai laborers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The amazing income accrued from the gambling dens ranges from $7.5 million to over 12.5 million, and there are a number of controls constraints for casino ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mostly Thai; however, financing sources are cryptic. The borders are formally open from 9:00 a.m. to 17:00, and although visas are allegedly required to cross, there are methods and means around this, as is true of many borders.

The original Cambodia casinos opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving only one casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked boat casino, features one hundred and fifty slot machine games and 60 gaming tables. The Naga casino never closes with forty two tables of mini-baccarat banque, four tables of vingt-et-un, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The 1st casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown soon opened. There are 150 slots and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machines and 68 tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features three hundred one armed bandits and 70 table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machines and 96 gaming tables, including eighty seven baccarat chemin de fer (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machine games and 66 of the familiar table games, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the 8 gambling dens in Poipet, again a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machine games and 97 games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a multinational resort and hotel building that contains many luxuries aside from the casino, which contains 10,000 sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty slot machine games and eighty eight gaming tables.
